What is this? As part of an interview process over the summer, I took a timed online coding test that included a CSS exercise, starting with a mockup image, a couple of image assets, and barebones HTML.

While I polished it a little afterwards, this is basically what I submitted for the coding test. It’s the product of roughly an hour’s work.

But how useful is that as a code sample? The modern web is responsive, isn’t it? As a primarily back-end web developer, I don’t have a front-end portfolio to show employers. So I decided to do a little research and rewrite the page with responsive CSS.
